Aliah Hawari

Postdoctoral research Associate and Computational Biologist

Aliah Hawari is a computational biologist at the Manchester Cancer Research Centre, working with Professor David Wedge in the field of cancer genomics and data science. Her research focuses on characterising genomic features driving tumour evolution, particularly in breast and gynaecological cancers. Passionate about understanding the role of diversity and ethnicity in cancer genomics and early detection, Aliah aims to uncover population-specific factors contributing to cancer disparities and develop strategies to promote equitable care. She completed her PhD at the University of Oxford and undertook postdoctoral research at the University of Manchester, specialising in constructing metabolic models and bringing a robust bioinformatics background to her career
