MCRC Strategic Operations Team
The MCRC Strategic Operations team are focused on the delivery of the MCRC strategy, driving awareness of our world leading research, developing training and education opportunities to empower the next-generation of cancer leaders. Our work supports the activities of the MCRC Partners, with the aim of developing synergistic strategies and research projects.
To reach our goals, the MCRC Strategic Operations Team activities cover Leadership, Communication, Strategy and Partnerships, Training and Development, and Professional Support.
Communications
Dr Joe Mowll-Clarke, Communications Manager
Behind every innovation, publication or grant lies a story of discovery, development and deployment. Joe and the wider communications team work to ensure these stories are told, through News, Blogs, Case Studies or Stories direct from our researchers.

Research Funding and International Partnerships
Dr Sinéad Savage, Strategic Research and Partnerships Manager
Sinéad works to find and develop the latest research opportunities for our scientists, as well as develop the collaborations with potential partners.
Training and Education

Ms Rachel Chown, Education and Development Lead
Rachel is responsible for developing, leading and delivering a wide range of training and education initiatives, across all the MCRC partners. Her role involves close working with the MCRC Director and the Directors of the Christie School of Oncology on new strategic education projects, including building international links and coordinating commercial and academic collaborations related to Manchester based cancer training and education programmes.
Dr Georgina Binnie-Wright, Postgraduate Programme Manager
Georgina is responsible for the administration of the MCRC-governed PhD scheme, including the Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre and MB-PhD schemes.
Professional Support
The Professional Support team works to support the MCRC Directors and key strategic projects as well as the wider Strategic Operations Team to help deliver our vision for cancer research synergy in Manchester.
Ms Christine Tracey, Executive Assistant to the MCRC Directors
Christine provides support to Prof. Nic Jones, Director of Strategic Initiatives. Working with Prof. Jones, in his role as Senior Responsible Officer for the Paterson Redevelopment Project, Christine oversees the administration of the Programme Board, Steering Committee and various other sub-committees.
Ms Caroline Stone, Executive Assistant to the MCRC Director, Robert Bristow
Caroline provides executive support primarily for Prof. Rob Bristow, Director of the MCRC, as well as the other Directors as needed. Caroline also works closely with other members of the MCRC team, to ensure maximum office efficiency and effectiveness for our strategic projects.
