Governance

The Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) was established in The University of Manchester in close partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, and has links to other Trusts conducting cancer research in Manchester.  The MCRC follows a federation model which facilitates active participation and contribution from relevant research groups within the partnership.

The MCRC federation model compliments the multidisciplinary and interlinked nature of cancer research and patient care in Manchester

The key stakeholders within the MCRC are involved in governance of the Centre and in strategic decision-making. A clear structure has been developed that supports and encourages open two-way communication, ensuring that the MCRC is able to reflect the needs of each partner organisation individually while focussing on the overarching ambition and aims of the Centre.

Key groups within the governance structure of the MCRC include the University Board, the Steering Board and the Joint Research Strategy Group.
