Two PhD training schemes offer both clinical and non-clinical projects:

Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre

The Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre PhD Scheme is highly competitive. It seeks ambitious, motivated students and clinical fellows who aim to launch and develop a career in world leading cancer research.

Manchester Biomedical Research Centre

The NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (MBRC) is a partnership between Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT) and The University of Manchester. The MBRC runs for five years from 1 April 2017 to fund MBRC research posts and biomedical studies in five areas, including cancer - there are number of PhD studentships within this. 

In addition, the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute offer several PhD projects every year.
